"Nothing in Biology Makes Sense Except in the Light of Evolution."
Theodosius Dobzhansky
Our charitable organization promotes education and research in the field of evolutionary biology. Our aim is to help disseminate basic scientific knowledge about evolution. In doing so, we address children, young people and adults with accurate information about evolution that is easy to understand and fun to learn.
Evolution Project in the Leimen-Mauer Region
Let's take the knowledge about evolution from the textbooks and schools and put it into the outdoors, where people are on the move and will encounter it.
Why is the Leimen and Mauer region particularly suited for this project?
Mauer is the prominent site where the famous Homo heidelbergensis was discovered. Nearby Leimen is host to the first educational trail of evolution "Evolutionsweg", where you can experience the inconceivable time periods of evolution with your feet.
To this end, the site where Homo heidelbergensis was found, the museum of prehistoric man in Mauer, the evolution trail in Leimen-Gauangelloch and the surrounding region will be linked thematically along a route of 11 km. It will be a circular route, initially with 12 stations. At each station, AR (augmented reality) will help to visualize the past and make it come to life, sometimes spectacularly, using modern technology. The focus is always on scientifically correct presentations. All walkers and cyclists can simply view the AR elements with their smartphone.
